ANKARA - Bir süre önce Brezilya’da bulunan kafatası fosilini inceleyen Portsmoth Üniversitesi’nden Mark Witton, bunun yeni bir pterozor cinsi ve türünün şimdiye dek bulunan en büyüğü olduğunu belirledi.

Mark Witton isimli araştırmacı, 115 milyon yıl önce Brezilya semalarında uçan bu pterozorun kanat genişliğinin 5 metreyi aşkın ve omzuna kadar boyunun da en az 1 metre olduğunu tahmin ediyor.

Kısmi kafatası fosilinin, Çin’de de bulunan bir grup dişsiz pterozor olan “çaoyangopteridae” türünün ilk örneği olduğunu belirten araştırmacılar, Çin’de bulunan örneğin kanat genişliğinin sadece 60 santimetre olduğunu kaydetti.

Brezilya’da fosili bulunan dev pterozora “göl gezgini” anlamına gelen “Lakuzovagus” adı verildi.
