Avrupa, tarihinin en büyük ve en gelişmiş uzay aracı olan Ariane-5’i Uluslararası Uzay İstasyonu’na gönderdi.

Uluslararası Uzay İstasyonu’na (UUİ), oksijen, yiyecek ve ekipman götürecek olan Ariane-5 roketi, uzaya başarıyla gönderildi. Avrupalı 13 ülkenin bir araya gelmesiyle oluşturulan “Arianspace” adlı kuruluş tarafından yapılan açıklamada, UUİ’ye 20 ton malzeme götüren roketin, TSİ 06.03’te Güney Amerika’nın kuzeydoğu sahilindeki Fransız Guyanası’na ait Kourou üssünden uzaya başarıyla fırlatıldığı belirtildi.

Uzay aracının, istasyon ile buluştuktan sonra 6 ay süreyle kenetli kalması ve 10 ila 45 günde bir motorlarını ateşleyerek UUİ’nin irtifasını yükseltmesi öngörülüyor.

Uzay aracı, Uzay keşfi alanında Avrupa’ya diğer ülkelerle rekabette önemli avantaj sağlayacak.
